I did indeed use the bus during that period! Incidentally, if you check the current Dublin Bus site, they have changed the timetable. There are now no buses between 8.05 and 16.10. In fact, only eight departures are listed. However the usual mid-afternoon service is still running. I'm guessing that the new timetable is an indication of changes to come, and that they will ultimately phase out the mid-afternoon service entirely, providing a 'commuter' service only.

I'm not sure if you got my original comment, but I noticed on an earlier thread that you'd purchased a copy of the 1954 timetable for the 65 bus. Although the route was changed some years ago - the 65 now goes out via Rathmines as you probably know, whereas it originally went out via Harold's Cross - I'm curious to know if the Rathmines route constitutes a return to the 'old' route or an entirely new route. The departure point from the city centre was changed a number of times while I was commuting, leaving from different sides of the quays, and at one stage from Abbey street, so I assume the route is changed from time to time.
Hoping you can help me.

I grew up in Manor Kilbride and commuted on the 65 bus for many years, first as a school kid, then for work. I even went out to Donard a few times before this route was discontinued. You mention on another thread that you have a 1954 bus timetable. I'm curious to know if and how the route differed from today, as it's a topic of discussion up in my local bar. The route was changed a number of times while I was using it. It left from Abbey street at one stage, and originally ran out to Terenure via Clan Brassil Street and Harold's Cross as opposed to Rathmines and Rathgar - its current route. Also, am I correct in assuming the bus was British Leyland? And that it was green and eau-de-nil in colour?

Gus Kilbride.
